Teachers who will be posted to Auki Community High School in Malaita this year are urged to perform their duties faithfully and honestly.
A parent of the school, who asked not to be named, said the rate of teacher absenteeism at the school last year was worrying.
“This had affected the academic performance of the students,” he said.
“Besides, it’s simply not fair to us parents who paid fees for our children to attend school and attain a better level of learning from their teachers.
“I call on teachers of the school this year to be diligent and honest with their work,” the parent said.
He also appealed to the Malaita Education Authority to do regular visits to schools in the province to check of the level of teacher absenteeism.
