A ONE day Journalism related training on writing and photography was conducted by the Youths@Work in Auki,Malaita province on Tuesday.
The training was conducted that the Malaita Women’s Council center.
It was facilitated by two communication officers, Regina Lepping and Ashleigh Bond from the Youth@Work, anon-government organization based in Honiara..
The aim of the training was toteach the youths about different ways youth can contribute to YOSI magazine and introduce youths to journalism, creative writing and photography.
Topics discussed during the training were journalism and creative writing. Due to time limitation a photography topic was not covered.
Youths@Work Communication officer MsLepping said, participants were taught basic components of creative writing.
She said the two main basic important elements of creative writing are poetry and short story writing.
After presentation participants put what they learnt into practical exercise writing activity in either compiling a written poem or a short story.
More than 20 youths from in and around Auki town participated in the training.
