Australia has now delivered more than 500,000 COVID vaccine doses (AstraZeneca and Pfizer) to Solomon Islands.
This was after Australia’s High Commissioner, Dr Lachlan Strahan, handed over another 150, 930 Pfizer vaccines today in partnership with UNICEF and a new truck to the National Medical Stores.
The new vehicle will boost COVID-19 response efforts by assisting with distribution of vaccines and critical medical supplies.
“As we experience the second wave and increasing case numbers, Australia is prioritising support to Solomon Islands to deliver its COVID-19 response activities.
“Today’s Pfizer doses will protect over 75,000 children aged 12 to 17 years with their primary course of vaccination,” Dr Strahan said.
The delivery of the Pfizer vaccines was made possible by the partnership and collaboration between Australia, UNICEF and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
