AUSTRALIA has provided emergency food supplies to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) today to assist Solomon Islands respond to the COVID-19 outbreak.
A statement from the Australian High Commission said this support will ensure the National Referral Hospital (NRH) can cater for over 200 patients and 100 staff over the coming days.
The supplies were delivered today with the help of Cardno International Development through ASIRF – Australia’s Solomon Islands Resource Facility.
“We recognise the tireless efforts of frontline health workers at the NRH over the past 60 hours, sacrificing their health, safety and time away from family to assist Solomon Islands respond to COVID-19.
“This support will assist them and the NRH to continue their vital work caring for our community during this time,” the statement said.
“Australia will always be there for our Pacific family in times of need.
“We will continue to support Solomon Islands as we tackle the pandemic together.
“Umi tugeda against COVID-19.”
