The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in response to an appeal by the Solomon Island Government and Solomon Islands Christian Association (SICA) to assist Australia bush fire victims had been organizing a number of fundraising initiatives around Honiara this last week.
To close the appeal period, a grand gospel concert will be staged at the Maranatha Hall at Lunga this coming Sunday, February 23rd from 1 pm to 6 pm, organisers said.
“A number of popular gospel bands in Honiara will be performing. There will be choirs and acapella groups, single artists and of course gospel groups both male and female bands,” the statement added.
Of particular interest is the inclusion of The Gospel Harmony a band owned by the Prime Minister himself. He is a singer and the lead guitarist as well.
“So why not bring the family to enjoy a feast of quality gospel music all afternoon with fellow Christian brothers and sisters. Bring a special offering to donate during the event,” the statement said.
There will be food sales as well including a picture gallery of the destruction caused by the bush fires.
