Dear Editor – Thank you for allowing me space to express my concern regarding the awarding of contracts by the Ministry of Aviation.
This ministry has long been associated with the un-procedural awarding of contracts to the ‘who you know’.
I would like to bring to the attention of authorities this issue because millions of dollars from the public purse is expended through this fishy awarding of contractual jobs by the ministry.
There are procedures to follow such as advertising and tendering out the jobs which is becoming a thing of the past. There seem to be a no care attitude and the PS seems to have the power to award the jobs to interested cronies.
Something has to be seriously done in this ministry to avoid this happening again this year. It is happening now under the new PS of the DCCG.
I ask the public and the media to turn the spotlight on these contracts and the Ministry this year to ensure there is fairness and lawful awarding of contracts this year.
Long Live Solomon Islands.
