The backyard gardening, basket gardening and organic process of nursery introduced by the Kastom Gaden Association (KGA) has attracted a lot of farmers and members of the public yesterday.
KGA was part of the inaugural agriculture show which kicked off on Tuesday.
The farming techniques introduced by KGA was new to some of the local farmers.
Malaita province KGA coordinator John Sala when the explaining process of organic nursery said it is very import that plants must be kept safe from pest attacks and disease by using high bed nursery.
He said back yard gardening is very simple because it only needs a small space of land behind your house or home to grow crops.
“With this method it will help family to save money from buying foods from the market and keep family from travelling far distance to buy food,”Mr Sala explained.
He also said that before planting the crops it is important that the planting material must be healthy by using ratio of coconut husk and amount of soil cater for the plant to withstand the outside environment.
Following a small demonstration yesterday he assured farmers that this week KGA will continue to expose its organic style farming to those who are interested.
