MALAITA EAGLES striker, Clement Baegeni is currently leading the Golden Boot race of the 2017 Solomon Cup Tournament.
Baegeni bagged eight goals from five matches played since the start of the competition.
He scored his highest number of goals yesterday, a hat trick against Lauru in the second semi final match.
If he continues to maintain the lead by scoring in the grand-finale against Central Shields, it is most likely he will be tournament’s golden boot winner.
Baegeni is confident to extend his tally in the grand final on Saturday.
“I’m looking forward to extending my lead in the grand final.
“I would like to thank my team mates and coach for helping me to score these goals.
“Without their support I will not be in the golden boot race,” he said.
However, the probabilities of concluding this competition with the highest of goals remains open as four provincial teams still has a match left to play, giving other players the chances of extending their goal counts.
The tournament is just about to come to its end and other contenders of the tournament are also trying their best to score goals as much as possible to snatch the top award.
Other possible contenders for the golden boot race are closing in on the race.
They are Robert Tanavoqa of Turtles and John Kamavae of Lauru, both with four goals each.
The losers and grand final will be the only two matches left for them to extend their lead.
