THE Makira Banana Festival has been rescheduled from June to August.
Since its inauguration last year, the organizing committee has decided to change the date from June to August.
Speaking from Kirakira, chairperson of the Festival Noel Mamau said:
“We decided to changed its date to fall in line with the Makira Second appointed day.”
This year’s festival will be falling on the 4th of August, a day after the province celebrates its second appointed day.
“This year’s festival will be much bigger one. It will not only bring Solomon Islanders here but there other international firms shown interest of participating,” Mr Mamau said.
Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau has confirmed to bring in international Travel writers.
Makira Province celebrates its second appointed day on 3rd August.
