The organizers of the 3×3 Basketball Jam Series would like to let all players know that the first series scheduled for Sunday 30th July, 2017 has now been deferred to Sunday 6th August, 2017.
The following reasons are noted for your information regarding this last and final deferral:
1. REGISTRATION – Only 3 teams (out of 24 – Mens & Womens) have so far registered to participate. This poor response must be improved next week, and there will be no extensions for teams without their registration fees. Fees are $30 per player/ $120 per team. Registration Deadline is on Thursday 3rd August, 2017.
2. VENUE – It has been noted that Honiara City Council has given the use of Multipurpose Hall to a Youth Group to do their fundraising on Sunday afternoon (tomorrow). Whilst this is very inconsiderate of HCC, the arrangement was made at the top level hence by-passing current arrangement with SIBF/HBL for basketball to have exclusive use on SUNDAY afternoons to run their league/programs. All games and timing should resume as normal as of next week.
3. 3×3 PLANET – Whilst the deferral is a set back in terms of timing, it does allow all players and teams who have so far registered their interest to participate, to properly work through their 3x3planet.com accounts. Like FB or any other social media, this platform gives all basketball players to be formally registered and participate under any FIBA endorsed 3×3 events that are organized either by SIBF and other affiliated basketball groups in the Solomon Islands. That being said a quick meeting will take place on Tuesday 2nd August, 2017 (NOCSI office, 12pm) for all 3×3 team captains to meet with 3×3 E-Learner to run through this process. The captains will then assist their players in setting up their own 3×3 planet accounts.
Note that for the womens category; there are still four more spots to fill. Please encourage other women team to join. As for the mens category, the organizers will need the team list for CRUSADERS and GUNNERS 3.
