THE heavy downpour in Honiara on Sunday, has forced organisers of the Battlegrounds Solomon Islands (BGSI) hip-hop dance competition 2017, to be cancelled.
More than 250 dancers signed up to compete, starting on Sunday 5th March.
A statement was issued to the dance groups, those that will provide entertainment and the public at large at 2pm, Sunday.
The organisers said they regret to inform all that the show was now officially cancelled due to the bad weather.
“Our rescheduled date will be posted up early next week, after we talk with the Art Gallery management,” the statement said.
According to the head of the organising committee Simon Chottu, this was one of the most active youth social events in the count.
BGSI has a Facebook page, and has engaged over 6000+ (in just a few days) people.
Winners of the competition will join the World Supremacy Battlegrounds (WSB) in Australia later on this year, representing the Solomon Islands.
WSB was also rated as the number one street dance competition in the Southern Hemisphere.
Three international judges have already arrived in the country, ahead of the competition yesterday.
Mr Chottu said, they are looking to reschedule the elimination round again for this Sunday, 12th March.
Meanwhile, the grand finale will be hosted at the same venue on the 19 of this month.
