THE Malaita Eagles Beach Soccer team has continued on with its winning streak as it sails past a determined Lauru Kuvojo team by 6 goals to 2 in a thrilling match, at the Mamanawata beach yesterday.
Hundreds of spectators again flooded the games venue to cheer for their respective teams.
Malaita Beach Eagles squad is now the crowds’ favourite after day two of the competition.
Yesterday, it was the boys from Choiseul who opened the score sheet downing Malaita by 2 goals to nil at the first quarter of play.
With some quality goal keeping from the Kuvojos’, the chances for the beach Eagles were however denied.
The boys reorganized in the second stanza with few changes to their game plan, which resulted in them equalizing at the end of the second quarter.
It was Malaita’s player to watch, Fa’ari Iro who slotted in the double to keep their winning faith alive.
Both teams were equal at the end of the second quarter.
They returned again in the pitch but this time, the Malaita team has reacted differently with their class of speed and totally readjusted game plan.
Young Fa’ari helped his side by scoring three more goals in the final quarter with another goal from his colleague to seal the victory for the Malaita Eagles team.
The young lad from Kwai Island in east Malaita is currently leading the Golden Boot race, with 9 goals after day two of the competition.
“We were to goals down in the first quarter which is a matter to us. We worked on our weaknesses regrouped and return in form to score two more goals to keep the score line level.
“The boys have played well today (yesterday), and the changes I did with our game plan have resulted in our victory today (yesterday),” Malaita Eagles coach Sam Koiromi told Star Sports after the game yesterday.
He added, they will be taking on the Western Turtles today and that he is looking forward for the match.
