THE Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Invitational Beach Soccer Championship kicked off at the DC Park beach soccer pitch yesterday.
Eight matches were played to mark the start of the weeklong tournament.
Kwikwi sent an early warning as the reigning Beach Champions securing two wins in day one of the tournament.
They beat Canaan Olagegeu 6-5 in a close encounter and a 2-0 win over Sunrise in their second match.
Kwikwi’s bitter rivals, Honiara Titans also registered two wins, 6-2 against Karaina and 3-1 against Western Kikio.
In other matches, Karaina, Hornets, Real North and Canaan Olagegeu registered a win each despite long their second matches.
Karaina beat Real North 3-1, Hornets defeated HFA Beach Soccer 7-0, the biggest win of the tournament so far, Real North beat Kamros 4-3 and Canaan Olagegeu beat Hornets 4-3.
Matches will continue today at the DC Park beach soccer pitch.
