THE first press session with the Miss Solomon Islands pageant show 2015 contestants under the schedule of the event’s host was held on Thursday, in Honiara.
During the session, the contestants were asked by members of the local media on issues related to the theme of the pageant show “Our Women, Our equal partners”.
A total of nine contestants will be battling for the Miss Solomon Islands 2015 title when the crowing is held on the 21st of November 2015.
From the nine contestants, only seven have managed to turn up for the media event while the other two are still out out the country.
Both were university students, one is currently in Fiji and the other is still in Papua New Guinea, and will be joining the other seven beauty queens in the coming weeks.
Representatives from the platinum sponsor, Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA) and Solomon Hosts (events host) were also part of the press conference.
“SIPA is very pleased to sponsor this event. And I want to urge the girls to continue working closely with SIPA during the course of the event, in promoting SIPA with its current reform activities,” a female rep from SIPA said.
According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Solomon Host Joyce Konofilia, an introductory event will be held with SIPA at the Ports area next Wednesday to have the contestants introduced to the sponsors.
She added that Honiara City Council (HCC) and Coral Sea Resort will also be part of the sponsors of the event.
The CEO also said that the Charity visits will also commence next week and that she is also proud and confident that the girls will make the show a successful one.
Meanwhile, Ms Konofilia also thanked the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Employment and Immigration for donating new sets of chairs and tables as well as cameras and other devices that will be used during the event.
