Bekabeka Adventist Community High School on Gatokae, Marovo, Western Province has successfully held its annual graduation ceremony on Monday.
The ceremony featured more than 20 form six students participating in the annual graduation and prize giving day.
The occasion was staged as the students prepare to sit for their external exams in the coming weeks.
Michael Koti, a family member who witnessed the ceremony said, it was a colourful event because many students, staff, parents, guardians, supporters and guests came out to witness the occasion.
Dr John Lenga Sisiolo from Solomon Islands National University (SINU) was also a guest during the celebration.
The ceremony featured, marching in procession, a final message to challenge the graduands, songs, speeches from the school administration, guest speaker, presentation of certificates, march-out procession, handshake and feasting.
The school administration also took the opportunity to thank the final year students for their contribution and time with the school over the past years.
The graduating students were also challenged to step up and face the world with courage and faith as they venture on to continue with their education journey next year.
The fine weather on Monday has offered a good opportunity for the ceremony to be successfully held.
The ceremony was filled with both excitement and sadness.
Excited because they are completing their high school this year, but sad because most of them will go their own ways and leave the school soon.
The program concluded with entertainment and refreshment.
BekaBeka Adventist School is a Seventh-day Adventist High School located on Gatokae Island at the opening of the famous Marovo Lagoon.
The school has more than 200 students in forms 1 to 6.
As part of the SDA education system, it provides quality education and emphasises the values of academic success, respect, and a strong work ethic in preparation for a productive life after the student graduates.
Pastor Kituru Ghuemu established Bekabeka Central Gatokae Primary School at its current site in 1964, as a primary school until 1995.
In 1995 Pastor Titus Rore, Education Director of Western Pacific Union Mission called Pastor Kituru and asked him to establish a junior central school.
Late Dr Haynes Posala and lawyer, Late Presley Watts, were asked by Pastor Kituru to establish the high school which was started in 1996.
In 1995 Grades 1-5 moved from the high school site to Sobiro with Year 6 moving there the following year.
The land for the school site was generously given by the chiefs of Gatokae to the Western Pacific Union Mission because of their commitment to education.
