A reggae band from the Guadalcanal plains has won the battle of the band contest in Honiara last weekend.
Big Haus Boys had snatched $5,000 in hard cash plus a trophy in the reggae category first prize award.
Speaking to Solomon Star, band manager John Lee described their surprising award as an unexpected one.
“We have never expected to get such awards but, after all we have proven ourselves. We always think that we cannot make it that way because we were from the back way, Guadalcanal plains.”
Mr Lee acknowledged crown sound entertainment for hosting the event.
“We commend crown sound entertainment for hosting the event with an aim of reviving life band performance other than depending on software for producing music”.
He also encouraged youths not to depend very much on technological advances.
“We youths should not depend much technological advances especial the use of software for producing music.
“We really need to revive our traditionally use of instruments for live performance”.
At the start of the battle of bands competition, one of the organising committee members for crown sound entertainment Ms Lynette Adomea encourages youth not to depend too much on software for music production.
Big Haus Boys band was formed in 2009. It was a local reggae band from Guadalcanal plains that are still using instrument for live performance.
