FIJI TIMES – Several former sevens reps are making their return to the Fiji sevens training camp next week.
Vodafone Fiji sevens coach Ben Ryan has named his extended squad to prepare for the upcoming 2014/15 HSBC Sevens World Series.
He has included players such as Nasoni Roko, Jasa Veramalua, Sitiveni Waqa, Jone Vota, Emosi Vucago, Apisalome Waqatabu, Aisake Katonibau, Isikeli Vuruna, Ilai Tinai, Eroni Sau, Sailosi Rabonaqica and former athletics sprinter Niko Verekauta.
All players’ fitness will be tested next week before Ryan further trims his squad.
Roko and Waqatabu will feature in tomorrow’s Skipper Cup final for Naitasiri and Nadroga respectively.
Dredlocked Roko has been in fine form for the Highlanders during last week’s semi-final victory over Nadi. Other players such as Tinai, Verekauta and Sau have been in Singapore, Naval seaman Vuruna is in top shape after returning from Middle East duties while Katonibau is back from suspension.
The Eastern players will have their fitness test at the HPU Gym in Suva on Tuesday while the West test will be conducted at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Wednesday.
