Dear Editor – I want to write more therefore if you could allow me a space in your paper because I need to say something regarding the issue above.
I thought that COVID-19 is one of the global pandemics that want us to adjust our systems.
The strict measures that are currently enforced to prevent it from reaching and spreading in and around our communities within our country Solomon Islands is line with the words of this renounced Greek Philosopher, Plato, who stressed out that, “the beginning is the most important part of the work”.
Of course, one of my friends wrote me a letter in the early days of this month, November, saying that this is how our Biosecurity Act in Solomon Islands should have been active in preventing African Snails and Rhinos Beetles from reaching and spreading in our shores.
However, he also stated that he still have confidence that it is not too late.
This is because he still see some coconuts still bear fruits.
He even stated that he was happy to walk around our Central Market in Honiara and see gardeners selling healthy slippery cabbage and other greens. That means we are not run out of time.
Since we were good friends in terms of discussing ideas, he knows that my favorite Reggae Artist is late Lucky Dube.
This is because in our previous meeting I told all of them that, “I consider Lucky Dube’s music not only because it was sweet but because his songs were often loaded with common sense lyrics” therefore he quoted one of his songs which say, “You cannot stand aside and look while the nation is going down the drain.”
