Bishop Norman Palmer Anglican School in Honiara has become one of the recipients of a generous donation from the Education Sector Support Program (ESSP), receiving 15 laptops to enhance the school’s digital resources.
Principal Mr. Henry Rahemola, on behalf of the Anglican Church of Melanesia Education Provider, the School Board, staff, parents, and students, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the donation.
He extended thanks to Australia and New Zealand through the ESSP, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD), for the valuable gift of 15 laptops.
“We are deeply thankful to the New Zealand and Australian High Commissioner’s offices, alongside the MEHRD, for taking this important initiative to provide these digital tools to our school,” Mr. Rahemola said. “This donation demonstrates the ESSP’s ongoing dedication to fostering quality education and promoting a culture of learning within the school community.”
Deputy Principal Wilson Mae further highlighted the significance of the donation, noting that the laptops would enhance the school’s computer lab.
“These 15 laptops will be added to our current stock of computers, enabling us to accommodate more students and improve our digital learning environment,” said Mr. Mae.
He also stressed the importance of teachers and students maintaining the laptops, calling them vital resources for the teaching and learning process in today’s digital age.
“These laptops are tools that will greatly assist both teachers and students in their educational endeavours, and it is crucial that we take good care of them,” Mr. Mae added.
In addition to the laptops, Mr. Mae expressed appreciation for the ESSP and MEHRD’s commitment to improving the school’s internet connection.
“We are also grateful for the assurance of an optic cable internet connection, which will significantly improve our current internet access,” he said.
Looking ahead, Mr. Mae reiterated the school’s eagerness to continue working closely with ESSP and MEHRD to promote access to quality education, enhance management practices, and support the holistic development of students across the Solomon Islands.
“We are excited to strengthen our partnership and ensure that our students have the resources they need to succeed,” he concluded.
The laptop donation is part of ESSP’s broader initiative to improve educational access and quality across the Solomon Islands through its collaboration with the governments of Australia, New Zealand, and the Solomon Islands.
