Dear Editor – As a citizen of this country, I am so disappointed to see the same people being appointed as board members of various government and public Institutions.
This unjust practice is depriving our qualified citizens with right capabilities and highly intelligential knowledge the opportunity to utilise their competencies to help these institutions in a new way forward.
Our institutions cannot progress well if we continue to keep the same people on every Board membership positions, we need new people with fresh ideas and innovations.
The government needs to get right information of all citizens with the appropriate qualifications out there in our human resources local market economy.
Importantly we need to adopt the wise ideology of the Hon. Fijian Prime Minister, Mr. Bainimarama which said that Fiji Government and Public Institutions belong to People of Fijian therefore a person can only be appointed to one position as Board Member in any government or public institution per term.
Reasons being that there are thousands of highly qualified Fijian people out there, therefore for equality and fairness of knowledge and wealth sharing, no person shall hold more than one Board membership and more than one term in office.
This is a wise leadership strategy which should showed us and our leaders a positive way forward for the prosperity of our government and public institutions.
Fiji government had established very good laws for its citizens and I hope our Government can copy paste those laws to help our citizens, seeing that the context of Fiji and Solomon Islands are similarly alike.
