RE-ELECTED Member of Parliament (MP) for North West Guadalcanal, Bodo Dettke and losing candidate, Albert Fono have agreed to hold reconciliation on 2nd December, to end their election related dispute.
They reached the resolution during their dialogue on Tuesday at Rove Police club, West Honiara.
The dispute stemmed out from a fight between supporters of Dettke and Fono over used of swearing words at Visale, following the announcement of the election result last Friday.
Fono’s supporters retaliated and bashed two men at Visale with a chain.
They also carried out a road block at Kakabona to stop Bodo’s supporters from travelling to Honiara and back to their villages.
Unfortunately, innocent Michael Waletasu was caught between the dispute when he was stabbed on the left hand with a knife, after he came out of a bus at the road block.
Solomon Star stringer, John Toki said during the dialogue, they have agreed to compensate the tribe of Sagalu and Tandai and people from different provinces living on the constituency.
Toki said this was because supporters of Dettke and Fono who were involved in the row live on both places.
He said Dettke had stepped in to give $5000 to the man’s mother, who was stabbed with the knife, after she expressed her emotion in the meeting.
However, Toki said the victim will receive his full compensation from the parent of the person who committed the act next Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Dettke had also reconciled with his other rival, Siriako Usa at Kakabona on Wednesday for election related row as well.
Usa, gave three Chupu on behalf of Sagalu and Tandai and one Chupu to his predecessor, Dettke.
In return, Dettke gave a Chupu, $2000 and two string shell Guadalcanal called Telina.
Dettke said it’s important to live in peace rather than violence so everyone in the community can move freely in the constituency.
