MEMBERS of the Bokona SDA Dorcas group carried outa three-day workshop at Phamphylia Village in the Malango Ward of Central Guadalcanal.
Around 40 women of Phamphyilia attended the three day workshop starting on 3September 2014.
The training introduced simple livelihood activities such as sewing and catering.
Village chief and community elder Daniel Una requested the Bokona Dorcas Group to visit his village after observing the success of a similar training to victims of April floods at Tenaru.
Training participants said they were happy with the outcome of the training and were impressed that all materials were supplied by the Bokona Dorcas group.In the past the women have had to pay $2000 to attend such trainings.
They praised the long term vision of Chief Daniel Unain providing an opportunity to help women improve their lives.
Chief Daniel said the training allowed women to work together to share and improve their future.
He expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the Bokona SDA Dorcas Group for accepting the challenge of sharing God’s Blessing with the women of his community.
The women also called for national development initiatives such as the GPPOL, Tina Hydro, Gold Ridge and their leaders to support the work of Church groups like the Dorcus, who are reaching part of the communities mostly neglected by these major developments.
