President of the Honiara Amateur boxing Association (HABA) has expressed his disappointment over the non-attendance of boxers who weigh in but did not compete during the official opening of this year’s boxing competition over the weekend.
John Firifote said, HABA will not tolerate such behaviour adding this type of attitude must not be entertained.
“I would like to urge all the clubs to make sure that we entertain our spectators and not disappointing them in our organised competitions,’’ he said.
He added if boxers continue to entertain such attitude, they can be deregistered from their clubs.
Fififote urged all coaches and team managements to take the warning seriously to avoid disappointment.
Meanwhile on the same note Firifote was satisfied with the level of performance the boxers has demonstrated over the weekend.
“Most of the boxers are now started to improve compared to last year’s tournaments,’’ he said.
He also urged them to keep working hard as HABA is expecting few international bouts will be held in the country very soon.
