THE Honiara Magistrate Court has imposed a $1,000 fine and a bound over sentence for a man who slapped a Bangladeshi inside his shop at Chinatown, Honiara, on Boxing Day.
Authur Kofela had pleaded guilty to one count of common assault.
Chief Magistrate, Emma Garo, imposed a fine of $1,000 in default of a three months imprisonment and a bound over sentence of 12 months in the sum of $1,000.
Kofela has until 3 January to pay his fine and failure to do so will see him serve three months in jail.
He is also ordered to be of good behavior for the next 12 months.
If he commits an offence within the 12 months period, Kofela is liable to pay $1,000.
Kofela slapped the complainant on 26 December this year at China Town, Honiara, after he and the complainant argued over the issue of fake $50.
The complainant was inside his shop, busy paying the Smart Trading Company their delivery payment, when Kofela came and slapped him.
Kofela who was the delivery driver of that company argued with the complainant over the issue of a fake $50 note that was given by the complainant to the company months ago.
He then threatened the complainant that he will pull out his teeth before slapping him.
The complainant called the Police Station and Police went to the scene and arrested Kofela.
