I am home to fix and defend Malaita and my people, says Premier Suidani
IN just a day since his arrival, Malaita Premier Daniel Suidani said he is back to defend his province and the interest of his people.
Premier Suidani who arrived back in the country Friday afternoon after a long medical trip overseas told Sunday Star in Auki that he is aware of what awaits him at home.
“I am here now to defend and solve the political instability my government is now facing,” he stated this from the GBR Quarantine centre, where he is currently undergoing 21 days of confinement.
He said he is fully aware of a network aiming to topple the MARA government under his leadership.
“It is sad to see MPAs who once uphold integrity in serving their people under the MARA government caught up in the network and now rebelling against MARA,” Suidani said.
The Premier said it hurts to know these elected MPAs sold their integrity and tried to break apart MARA – a government that touches the hearts of many Malaitans.
“Malaita needs good leadership not paid leadership,” he insists.
The Premier said should he put personal interest first and accept bribes like his colleague MPAs did, he should have received millions of dollars in the process.
“…..but I put the interest of Malaita and its people first. This does not need money, but pure and good leadership.”
He then mocked the MPAs who tendered their resignation by saying, “look who is serving a foreign interest, is it MARA or those MPAs that left MARA?”
“I want to let my people know that I am back in the country and ready to defend the MARA government and our province.”
“I am fully aware of those working in the shadow with selfish intention to try to bring the MARA government down to conduct their selfish interest in Malaita”
“I will not let them succeed with their egotistical intention,” Suidani stated.
He said now that he is in the country, the out of jurisdiction legal opinion of the Attorney General no longer valid.
He said the Provincial Speaker will have no excuses but to conduct swearing in of newly appointed Ministers.
“By next week, the MARA government should be back to full strength.
“The resignation of the six MPAs has given opportunity for those MPAs who have passion for true leadership that puts the people of Malaita first to claim their portfolios,” he said.
In the meantime, the outspoken Premier assured the Malaita public that he will do whatever it takes to protect the interest of Malaita going forward.
He said he will not bow to the request by those MPAs who recently handed in their resignation for the MARA government calling on him to tender an early resignation.
