BRITISH envoy to Solomon Islands and Non-Resident High Commissioner to the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency Thomas Edward Coward has commended Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare’s leadership in the war against the COVID 19 pandemic.
His Excellency Tom said, despite the challenge to get all eligible Solomon Islanders to be vaccinated, the country’s quarantine system is effective and well-functioning.
High Commissioner Tom acknowledged challenges such as the global pandemic and the recent social disorders, but said the country has been doing well.
“It certainly will be your legacy in Solomon Islands. You are an incredibly important figure along with other great leaders of this nation,” underlined His Excellency Tom.
The British envoy adds, throughout the history of Solomon Islands, Prime Minister Sogavare has been such an important figure, because of his experience and contribution towards the rule of democracy, national peace and stability.
He adds, the UK is ready to assist Solomon Islands in any way it can.
H.E Tom made these remarks while presenting his introductory papers to the Prime Minister yesterday.
Mr Thomas Coward replaces outgoing British High Commissioner to Solomon Islands Dr Brian Jones whose appointment expired at the end of last year.
