A YOUNG man in his twenties has allegedly stabbed his older brother to death in Rannoggah, Western Province.
The shocking incident happened on Saturday morning at Koe, the family’s settlement. Koe is in Onivemola near Lale Village in Rannoggah.
According to villagers, the incident happened when everyone was away in their gardens.
They said prior to the fatal stabbing incident, the two brothers had a heated argument.
An eyewitness said following the argument the older brother was lying on a hammock when his younger brother allegedly approached him from behind and cut his brother’s back and forehead.
The eyewitness said the older brother quickly got out of the hammock and tried to escape, but his younger brother struck him again by cutting both his older brother’s elbows and stomach before escaping.
The eyewitness said many suspected that the younger brother could be under the influence of marijuana, which contributed to the heated argument that resulted in the fatal stabbing.
The suspect has since been apprehended by Gizo Police that same evening and has been in police custody since.
An investigation is now underway into the tragic incident.
The older brother left behind his wife and three children.
The tragic event sent shockwaves throughout the community of Rannoggah where the two brothers were well-known.
Neighbors and friends expressed their grief and disbelief, highlighting the importance of addressing substance abuse and promoting peaceful conflict resolution within families.
