Two blood brothers are set to contest the Kwaio region, Malaita Province in the upcoming National General Election which is eight days away.
Outgoing Parliament member Stanley Festus Sofu is contesting the East Kwaio and Titus Fika for the West Kwaio constituency.
During a joint exclusive interview in Auki yesterday, the brothers revealed that they are confident to win in their respective constituencies.
“Final outcome of the election will be victorious for both of us”.
When asked if both have personal interest in the two constituencies, they refuted by saying it is based upon one’s perspective.
“We are two different people and each will prove them on their own sides.
“We do not have any aim to stand as brother’s arm in arm. We only have an intention to develop our region.”
Eldest brother Sofu separately declared that in analysing the election he gained confidence and trust from the people during his two terms in office. He won the seat in 2006 and 2010.
“Therefore I’ am not going to carry campaign instead visit camps in the big village centres.
“I will go about reassuring people of my commitment and short and long term goals for the constituency.”
Fika on the other hand said he has completed his election campaigning in West Kwaio already.
“However I saw my campaigning too early. I will go about revisiting my strongholds and give insights into my political ambitions.”
He even highlighted his campaign strategies which solely based on transforming the constituency.
“I prioritize infrastructural, educational, health domain and settling land disputes and indifferences during my talks,” said Fika.
Fika is former Malaita Provincial Chief Education officer who resigned middle of this year with the intention to contest.
There are 12 candidates set to contest for East Kwaio and 13 candidates for West Kwaio constituency.
