ALIGEGEO Provincial Secondary School (APSS) near Auki, Malaita Province lost valuable industrial tools when burglars broke into one of their industrial arts building over the weekend.
The incident came as a shock to the school despite a 24-hour security service provided by a private security firm established at the school.
A reliable source revealed to this paper that the incident happened on Friday night.
He said two circular saws, two wooden plane, chisels and other valuable industrial tools were stolen by the thieves that night.
“They broke in through the window from behind the building by cutting the window wires with a bold wire cutter and make their way in.
“These are the industrial equipment the industrial Arts students using or working with during their practical classes.
“Such action and behavior is unacceptable because it will affect the students learning,” he said.
Several calls made to the school principal for comment was unanswered. A visit to his office yesterday proved futile as he was out of the office.
When contact Auki Police said they were not aware of the incident.
Speaking to a number of students at the school, the said that such behavior is unacceptable.
“This will affect out industrial arts unit and would cost the school to purchase new equipment.”
