Burns Creek children are currently undertaking an immunization exercise for measles (rubella) as part of controlling the spread of the disease in the country.
This was after confirmed that Solomon Islands is at high risk of the spreads of rubella, currently being reported in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
The prevention exercise was carried out by a medical team from Vura clinic.
They treat every child under 4 years old.
Rubella, a communicable disease is being spread easily from one person to other.
A nursing officer said its good for every child to take the prevention measures.
She said the injection will help young children to resist against rubella.
A mother Marie Atison said it was good to see nurses visiting the communities to do the injection.
The prevention exercise will continue throughout the country.
Other parts of Honiara are also undertaking similar immunization program.
