BURUKU School in Ughele Village in South Rendova, Western Province, has joined the rest of the country and the world to celebrate the World Environment Day on Monday – 5 June.
Reports from Ughele said the observance of the day started with a parade from the school campus and progressed along the road in the village.
The students held banners bearing messages highlighting the importance of preserving the environment for future generations by engaging in tree-planting projects.
The teachers and students also echoed calls to the Ughele Community in line with the messages borne by the banners they carried.
The theme for this year’s World Environment Day is “Beating Plastic Pollution.”
The theme highlights the importance of all people across the globe to take action in reducing plastic pollution in the environment.
