THE young man who allegedly stole another man’s phone inside a public bus after stabbing him with a scissors along the Koa Hill Road in January will be sentenced on August 8.
Davidson Daniel Donga, 20, has pleaded guilty to one count of Armed Robbery on a previous court date.
He was initially charged with Unlawful Wounding.
The prosecution later amended the charge to Armed Robbery.
The incident occurred in the late afternoon of 19 January 2023, when the 19-year-old victim was on his way home aboard a public bus.
The victim boarded the bus at the Honiara City Council-Skyline Bus Stop.
The victim and the defendant sat next to each other right behind the bus driver’s seat.
The bus went on its way and stopped at the Koa Hill bus stop where the incident happened.
Donga grabbed the victim’s phone and tried to escape with it but the victim grabbed onto him.
During the struggle, Donga stabbed the victim with a scissors, snatched his phone and ran away.
The victim was dropped off at his destined bus stop and was helped by some boys and people from other public buses who were there and rushed him to the National Referral Hospital.
