Dear Editor – There was a Business Excellence Awards 2014 Gala Night held at Heritage Park Hotel on Saturday 30th August 2014.
Somehow, unexpectedly and surprisingly, the Isabel Development Company Limited won the Prime Minister –Gordon Lilo’s, Special prize, the second highest award in the litany of awards announced at the gala night.
When the nomination forms for the awards were given to me by the General manageress of IDC for my consideration, it took me a while before I decided to take part in the contest.
The questions I had in mind were:
– The status of Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and the real motives of the awards?
– Does the SICCI promote and further the interests of the struggling-indigenous companies like IDC?
– If IDC does win a prize, will the prize help us to alleviate our SIG Tax burdens, given us fuel subsidies, and win SIG Contracts? However, for the sake of the competition I decided to nominate IDC for the Community Excellent Award.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Trustees and the hardworking Staff, workers, crews of IDC ltd, we extend our humble and heartfelt appreciation to the judges who gave us the award.
Thank you for recognising us in IDC, recognising us that we have been partners in progress in the general economic and business development of the Solomon Islands over the past 42 years.
I have been duly informed that whole programme was well organised, joyful and entertaining.
To God be the Glory, Great things He has done for Isabel Development Company!
Well Done Solomon Island Chamber of Commerce.
