NINE individuals from Tina Hydro landholding tribes completed a business training organised for them, Friday.
Solomon Islands Small Business Enterprise Centre (SISBEC) conducted the training to educate resource owners business and investment opportunities.
The five-day business training ended with presentation of certificates.
Among the nine trainees are four women, all of whom came from the two executive groups representing two tribes in Tina – Roha and Ulunasutahuri.
SISBEC’s program manager Ben Nginabule thanked the participants for their inputs and urged them to utilise what they learn in the course to develop their communities.
Mr Nginabule said the training was part of the ongoing efforts of SISBEC to empower locals to become successful business people.
He said such trainings will benefit the participants, as they can now engage in business with the appropriate knowledge and skills to become prosperous.
Meanwhile, Director of Energy from the Ministry of Mines & Energy (MME) John Korinahona acknowledge the people of Tina for their participation in the business training, and assured that his ministry remain committed to support our communities to have access to power supply.
He said beside the Tina hydro project Ministry of Mines is also looking at other forms of energy supply for our remote communities.
A rep from Roha tribe Tina Leslie Luke Rasile commended the training, adding it helped them with the skills to wisely invest their resources.
Ms Rasile said they have realised that the huge amount of money received in royalty were misused, which he said they should have become wealthy business people had it was invest into profit making activities.
He thanked SISBEC for the training as well as the course facilitator Charlie Onahikeni, who is the business trainer and advisor of SISBEC.
