DEPUTY Mayor of Honiara City and Chairman of Finance Charles Aiwosuga, has made a strong appeal to all business houses, vehicle owners and retail shops within the City to pay up their Business Licenses.
He made the call following lack of payment from some business owners on their licences to operate within the City, as we are in the final quarter of the year.
He further states that the finance division will soon be publishing names of business houses with arrears in the papers.
There will also be a major traffic check for busses and taxis operating within the city and retail outlets next week.
“Any types of business operating without a business license from the Council is a breach of the Council’s Business Ordinance, and are liable to be prosecuted in court,” Mr Aiwosuga said.
The public at large expects high delivery service from the Council, thus a good support and cooperation from the business houses is expected, to efficiently deliver these services.
There are huge amounts of arrears owed to the Council from different business by individuals, business houses and stakeholders.
Chairman Aiwosuga urged those responsible to come forward and pay up.
