WEIGHTLIFTING athletes are asked to resume training as soon as possible.
The call was made by coach and athlete, Jenly Wini yesterday.
Ms. Wini who is currently the country’s top weightlifter said it is important that athletes resume training as important competitions are coming up.
One of the ongoing competitions is the online weightlifting competition organized by the Oceania Weightlifting Federation (OWF) during the Covid-19.
Currently, seven weightlifters are competing in this online competition.
“Holiday time is over; it’s time to return to the gym.
“There are important competitions coming up, one of them is the round eight of the online weightlifting competition.
“At the same time it also helps as part of the preparation for the 2023 Pacific Games,” she said.
Wini highlighted that doing this online competition will help keep the athletes’ active both mentally and physically.
“Athletes are looking forward to getting good results.
“Despite not being able to travel, we are able to still join such competitions.
“We would like to thank the OWF for this as it helps to keep athletes all around Oceania to compete in team events and motivates athletes,” she added.
Wini encourages athletes to step up and work extra hard this year as the country prepares for the 2023 Pacific Games.
