Solomon Star stringer John Toki has reiterated the general call of the chief from Sagalu ward in the North West Guadalcanal region to all landowners of the island to release their land for development.
Mr Toki quoted that the chiefs of Sagalu have realised the barrier brought by land dispute to development in the North West Gaudalcanal.
Therefore he is calling on all five tribes of the island to cooperate in releasing their land for development purposes, either from the government or private sector.
“Land is the key resources to improving the livelihood of the people of Guadalcanal and Solomon Islands as a whole, thus continuous refusal by landowners to have their land develop will drag poverty further to the next generations in our society.”
He concluded that the chief’s appeal to all landowners of the largest island of this country to change their mentality and work hand in hand with the government to have major projects, such as Tina Hydro, cannery and Mamara to progress.
