As leaders, we must continue to encourage our people both in good and bad times says Malaita Provincial Premier Daniel Suidani.
Premier Suidani made this statement in light of the uncertainty that is ahead of the country as the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to infect and kill thousands around the world.
The premier encouraged the 33 MPAs from Malaita to continue to encourage people in their respective wards in this time on uncertainty.
“I call upon all of us to encourage our people to take heed of health advice and warnings.
“Now is the time to encourage our people to return to the basics.
“If schools will be closed and other major gatherings will be banned, the only way to survive is for us individuals to grow our own food in the preparation or the tough times ahead.
“As we have seen on TV, heard on radio and read on newspapers Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea has now closed off their borders from the outside travelers.
“Most countries in the world are now under lock-down.
“Soon the Solomon Islands will follow and as leaders, we must continue to lead and encourage our people both in good and bad times,” he said.
