Fiu communities in Central Kwara’ae, Malaita Province have urged the national and provincial government to quickly repair the Fiu bridge and road which were badly destroyed by flood last week.
A driver at Fiu community John Tau said, the damaged areas are very dangerous.
“It needs quick repair.”
The road and bridge connects the North and East Malaita people to Auki town.
“The drivers and its traveling passenger’s lives are currently at risk while crossing the bridge.
“Therefore its very important for responsible authorities to do something,” Mr Tau said.
Last week’s heavy flooding had resulted in the river banks being eroded which poses threat to the bridge.
“If nothing is done, it would result in any accident soon,” he said.
