Authorities are urged to review the labour-based road maintenance being done along some of Malaita’s roads.
North Malaita man John Andrew Kiri said it does not make sense when these contractors are cleaning up along sides of the road while the roads themselves are in their worst of state.
“I would like to think that they should also be filling up the numerous pot-holes rather than just clearing bushes on the road sides,” Kiri said.
He added trucks don’t travel on the road sides but on the road.
Kiri said the terms of engagement should be expanded to include filling up of pot holes.
He said the road in north Malaita is getting worse by the day and people there are calling on their MP to seriously look into this.
