A Malaitian man from the Aoke Langalanga constituency, Dilly Wale, calls on out- going member of parliament, Matthew Wale, to come out and explain to the people his involvement in the mining companies on Guadalcanal.
Recently Solomon Star has uncovered a report compiled by St Barbara’s legal counsel for the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to investigate Wale’s relationship with Allied and St Barbara mining companies.
The dossier has uncovered that Wale has been enjoying a scholarship sponsor for his children to study at a prestigious grammar school in Australia fully funded for by Allied and later St Barbara, in exchange for his services as a member of parliament.
The report stated that the amount of money involved in the sponsorship is way too high compared to what is normally enjoyed by landowners and that it involves an official (Wale) which is a clear conflict of interest and additionally it is a breach of St Barbara’s anti- bribery and anti- corruption policy.
This paper understands that relevant authorities are working to ensure justice will take its course.
Meanwhile, the Aoke Langalanga man, Mr Wale, has called on the out- going MP, Matthew Wale, to come clean over the issue once and for all.
“I urge the former MP to explain to the Langalanga people his involvement with the mining companies on Guadalcanal,” Dilly stated.
Dilly said the continued silence by the former MP could be interpreted as; “he has nothing to explain as the report is true and that he has to face the full brunt of the law,’” Dilly added.
“The people of Langalanga have the right to know what is going on and Wale needs to come clean over the issue,” Dilly emphasised.
Dilly said a simple explanation will do rather than hiding in the house and remain silent.
“Langalanga people are equally anxious to know the former MP’s side of the story as by remaining silent does not help at all,” Dilly concluded.
Solomon Star initially asked the former MP to tell his side of the story and he promised to do so the next day but it has been almost three weeks he chooses to remain silent.
