PREMIER of Western Province Christian Mesepitu has called onto the private sector development and local entrepreneurship to widen its revenue base.
Premier Christian Mesepitu highlighted this key point last Monday during Western Province Assembly passes the budget as he outlined his five key strategic areas for implementation in his administration.
One of his key strategic areas is the strengthening of Revenue Base in the Province.
Premier Mesepitu then encourages all the private sectors developments and local entrepreneurship in Western Province to widen our revenue base.
Mesepitu said his government will make land both in Noro and in Gizo and prioritized bigger companies both local foreign owned to relocate their business activities in the western Province.
“In this way we will continue to increase our revenues from business licenses and property rates and land rentals.
“We will strengthen our revenue collection to recoup uncollected revenue from businesses in the province.
“We will tighten our expenditure so that spending is focused on priority programs and key activities.
“We will live up to our means and avoid unnecessary spending. We will identify and fix licks in our financial systems,” he added.
Mesepitu added they will continue to strive at all times to adhere to the policy of value for money as they conduct transactions to comply with the Western Provincial Financial Ordinance
Other key four strategic areas he highlighted is the State Government, Socioeconomic Development, Climate Change and Law & Order.
