CAMPAIGNING in various constituencies should start after the final list of intending candidates is published.
This was clarified in the Candidates and Agents Handbook and even clarified by Chief Electoral Officer, Polycarp Haununu.
Mr Haununu when asked on the matter said that no campaigns should begin before the final announcement and publication of intending candidates.
Mr Haununu said that those who do otherwise would been seen as breaching the Electoral Act.
The question of when campaigning should begin popped up following what appeared as campaigning other than awareness being carried out by various candidates not only in Honiara but also in the provinces.
Meanwhile nominations for next month’s National General Elections closed on Wednesday.
