Hearts of Hope (HOH) has organised a firstever three (3) days of camping for young orphans at Maoro primary school this week.
The camp kicked off on Tuesday and will end today.
About 173 orphans from Bina to U’ura in the central region of Malaita province are part of the event.
Hearts of Hope co’ordinator Janet Justus Aihari said, these three days of camping is mainly to bring these orphans together and to organise activities for them during this festive season of Christmas.
“We try to engage them during this Christmas so that they will have fellowship with one another rather than staying back in their homes not knowing what to do.”
She said, the organisation is proud to host this kind of program for these orphans during this Christmas season especially to support and to present them with gifts to show them that they were not left alone but they still have someone to care for them.
Also during the program sergeant Robert Alegao from the Auki community policing conducted talks and told all the orphans that Auki police wants to see that this Christmas will be celebrated in a peaceful manner.
“You are the defenders in your communities and we must work together with the police so that we will reduce crimes in our communities.”
He said, today there are lots of problems in the society but the they must say no all anti- social behaviors so that the communities are safe live in.
Mr Alegao calls on all orphans and the villagers at Maoro community to live in peace and harmony and celebrate this Christmas with respect, peace and love.
