Caretaker Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo over the weekend has taken his time off from his busy campaigning schedule to encourage Church leaders and Women Crisis Center workers in Gizo, Western Province to continue on with their good works.
Speaking at an evening dinner on Saturday night at PT109, Mr Lilo emphasized the important roles Church and the center played respectively in ensuring humanity live in harmony with one another.
Mr Lilo highlighted that it is of paramount importance that humanity coexist with one another in true peace and harmony.
“By having peace, it will attract investors to come into our country and invest in economic activities that may in turn boost the country’s economy.”
Mr Lilo further stated that as part of his government’s contribution to ensure the protection of the vulnerable in the society; it enacted the Family Protection Act.
He admitted that to get the support of 1/3 of the Parliamentary members was not easy, but in the end the members of the ninth parliament realised the importance of the then Bill and eventually enacted it with overwhelming support.
Mr Lilo further emphasized that the Act is to assist Churches and organisations that deal with victims of abuse, to legitimise their collective efforts to care for the often marginalised and victims of abuse.
The care- taker PM is currently on the campaign trial at Kolombangara Island and is expected to wrap up his campaign in a week’s time.
