THE Community Access & Urban Service Enhancement (CAUSE) Project continues to facelift Gizo, Western Provincial capital.
Since the roll-out of the project few years ago it has engaged more unemployed men, women and youths.
And through the project they were able to help contribute to the many projects that have been undertaken in Gizo.
On the other-hand, participants of the project were able to earn an income to support themselves and their families.
Some of the projects which the township had benefit from so far included the Jacob’s ladder and foot path for local communities in around Gizo Town.
Since last month many more workers have been engaged in cleaning the road side, drainage and clearing some high bushes and weeds along the road side.
They were divided into groups to cover the whole sectors within the surrounding communities in Gizo.
While the CAUSE Project offers short term employment opportunities to many unemployed women, men and youths to support their families needs, it also keeps the town clean and tidy which many people and public have praised the project and its workers.
Speaking to this paper in an interview last week, a member of Gizo Community Trence Lamukera acknowledged the project for beautifying the city.
“Many times, you will see young girls, women and men sweeping and cleaning up the rubbish early in the morning before the dawn.
“And they have really done a great job by cleaning up the main center and the surrounding communities, this is what we called ‘selfless service‘ from the heart.
‘’It is true these workers will get their payment later but doing the act of service by cleaning up rubbish, the drainage is a commitment from a willingly heart. They have concerns for the beautification of the environment and the town,” Mr. Lamukera.
He added even though many workers sometimes raised complaints regarding late of payments, patience takes time to achieve and what they earned comes from their sweat and hardworking.
“And it paid off at the end of the day, contribution towards building an eco-friendly environment and beautification to the whole new level says it all,” the long time Gizo resident said.
The presence of the CAUSE Project has brought many positive changes to the face of Gizo.
“It was not only by creating opportunities to the unemployed ones but also face-lifting and beautifying the town area,” he said.
So far many schools and many local communities have benefited from the footpath project and the Jacob ladder.
Meanwhile, Gizo Satellite Market at the Banana Valley area will be opening soon plus a new Jacob’s ladder also have been constructed at the District Area.
The new Jetty wharf for the Market Vendors at the Gizo Market is at the completing stage and soon to be opened sometimes this month.
