The weeklong centenary celebration in Viru, Western province marking the arrival of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church has ended yesterday.
UP to 5,000 Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) members have congregated at Viru last week to celebrate the arrival of the SDA gospel in the country.
The week-long celebration was officially opened by Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo last Tuesday who congratulated the church for its journey thus far and its contribution to the country.
Members from all the SDA churches around the country and overseas have attending the celebrations.
The theme for the celebration was “We’ve come this far by Faith”.
Solomon Islands Mission (SIM) president George Fafale congratulated the church (SDA) for its 100th year of existence.
Reports said the celebration was a success with members turning up.
Most of those who travelled to Viru have started returning to their respective provinces, islands and centre as of yesterday and today.
A chartered boat has brought back members from Honiara who have participated, while those from other islands around Western province have left for their islands in their outboard motors (OBM).
