THE Central Islands Provincial Disaster Operations Committee (CIPDOC) is deploying its Provincial Emergency Response Team (PERT) to conduct a COVID-19 survey of preparations at communities within the Central Islands Province.
A statement from the Provincial Emergency Operation Center in Tulagi said the survey is purposely to meet with community COVID- 19 committees and explore options to set up isolation arrangement for each community in anticipation of COVID-19 transmission.
“The PERT is currently in Ward 2 and will continue their work in the rest of the 10 Wards of Central Province,” the statement said.
It also confirmed that, Tulagi remains a hot spot for COVID-19.
Several other communities in Gela as well as in the Russell Islands recently recorded COVID-19 positives.
Persons that tested positive including their close contacts are in home isolation.
There have also been reports of persons that have recovered from COVID-19.
“In support to the COVID-19 response efforts of the CIPDOC, the National Emergency Operation Center is calling on all communities within the Central Islands Province to work closely with the PERT and PDOC to ensure proper arrangements are set for their communities,” the statement said.
