ADAKOA rural training centre in east Kwara’ae, Malaita province will prioritize gender equality on students enrolled this year.
School Principal David Leliana told the Solomon Star that over the past years, number of girls enrolled at the centre was very low.
“We have enrolled more males than females here but from this year and onwards, we want to balance it,” Mr. Leliana added.
He said that they have offered life skills mainly for girls at the centre.
The centre started in 2010 and enrolled many drop outs students from the areas starting from east Fataleka to east Kwaio in Malaita province.
“Girls are needed at the centre to balance the activities organized by the school for students,” Mr. Leliana said.
He said that girls in the area are encouraged to enter the centre from this year and onwards.
