The Solomon Islands Chess Federation (SICF) has released the names of 56 players who will vie in the upcoming National Open Chess Championship which will start on Saturday.
The competition will be held at the SIBC conference Room starting at 10am Saturday.
Out of the 56 selected players, eight of them are students from Chung Wah School.
One of the notable inclusions is Ronnie Kellei, the young lad who was the first to introduce Solomon Islands to the world of chess when he became the first player to represent the country in the Junior Chess World Cup in Abu Dubai last year.
Most of the other players are from chess clubs in and around the Honiara vicinity.
The selected participants are from both the rated and unrated category.
Unfortunately some players from the provinces cannot make it in the lineup for various reasons.
The SICF and organizers urged those enlisted players to make all efforts to turn up early tomorrow for the draw time which will start at 8am to 9:55am before the official program starts at 10am.
Participants are cautioned that those do not attend for this draw during time prescribed will miss-out from the final drawn-pools and may have their names stricken-off.
